Seattle Fundraiser, Sunday, May 6, 2012 4-6 pm

The Pan African Technical Association is pleased to have Astronaut Livingston Holder speak at a fundraiser, to be held in Seattle, Washington on Sunday May 6 from 4pm to 6pm. Tickets are $10.00. The Pan African Technical Association is holding a fundraiser to support the Africa Achievement Awards and Economic Forum and Science and Technology Conference. PATA and the Africa Times-USA Newspaper are presenting this year' conference. This conference will be held in Addis Ababa Ethiopia on May 25, 2012. Please visit the Awards of Africa website, www.awardsforafrica.com, to learn more about the conference and to support this important cause.

 

Also, a portion of the proceeds from this May 6 fundraiser will go towards supporting the Ethiopian Community Mutual Association.

 

Bio of Mr. Livingston L. Holder, Jr.

Livingston L. Holder, Jr., is a former U.S. Air Force astronaut who now heads Holder Aerospace, an engineering consulting company in Renton, Wash. An astronautical engineering graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Holder was on the Titan III launch crew at Vandenberg AFB, Calif., and served on a classified satellite program at Los Angeles AFS. He trained and qualified as a manned spaceflight engineer and Space Shuttle payload specialist and was assigned to fly on the Challenger, but his mission was cancelled after the Challenger accident in 1986. Holder joined The Boeing Company in 1988, where he led International Space Station integration activities with responsibility for the Habitation Module, served as the initial Sea Launch program manager, served as chief engineer and program manager of aviation information services and led the Future Space Transportation organizations. Holder served as chairperson for COMSTAC at the Department of Transportation and then joined Andrews Space as vice president-space systems, where he led the company to its first DoD contracts on the Falcon program and managed a joint effort with Northrop Grumman Corporation on the NASA-funded 2nd Generation Reusable Launch Vehicle program. In 2006, Holder joined AirLaunch LLC as chief program executive, where he led the achievement of technical milestones including the largest and heaviest object ever dropped from a C-17 and the largest and longest vapor-pressurized rocket engine firings in history. Holder has an M.S. in systems management from University of Southern California.
